And the families meet...

Mom and Dad were in Japan from March 10th to the 19th and we were fortunate enough to be able to spend time with Kaz's family on a couple of occasions. The first was on Sunday, March 12th. They had Mom, Dad, Doug, Nancy and I over for a Hinamatsui Party. This is to celebrate the Japanese dolls. Kaz's Mom and Aunt dressed Mom and Nancy in Kimono and then we had a fabulous meal of tempura, salads, rice dishes and hand rolled sushi. Unfortunately Kaz's sister was in Germany so she couldn't make the party, however we had the next best thing and we were able to talk to her using Skype (an Internet telephone service) and she could see all of us using a webcam. The picture was taken at their house. Kaz's Mom is the one wearing glasses. We then met them again the following Saturday for dinner in Tokyo and it was another wonderful evening. They were then nice enough to help drive everyone and luggage out to the airport on Sunday when everyone left. Our families are really blending nicely despite different languages, cultures and geographic locations. We are truly lucky.
